Do clip-on earrings hurt?
We're going to be honest with you! There's no definitive "yes" or "no" answer as everyone's ear lobes have different pain thresholds and sensitivity levels.
But we are very confident in the comfort of all our clip-ons. Over the years, we have trialled and tested almost every clip-type there is. All SANS TROU pieces were designed with comfort in mind. We've chosen to use specific clip types on purpose, in hopes that our clip-ons will bring you the perfect balance between comfort and style.
My ears are already pierced, can I still wear clip-ons?
We're so glad you ask, yes you absolutely can!
Clip-ons are suitable for everyone. Even if you already have pierced ears, you may want to try clip-ons if:
- Your ears are highly sensitive to certain materials
- Normal earrings irritate your ear
- You want to avoid your ear lobes sagging over time
- You want to try the "stacked earring" look but don’t want to commit to more piercings
- You want to test out how a particular kind of earring might look on you
- You need earrings that can easily be taken off
- … the list goes on!
What are the main benefits of clip-on earrings?
They require no piercings in your body which means no pain, risk of infection, saggy earlobes and all that stuff we don't want to deal with!
What material is your jewellery made from?
Most of our gold designs are made with a thick layer of 18k gold plating on either stainless steel or 925 sterling silver (unless stated otherwise). Our silver designs are also made with either polished stainless steel or 925 sterling silver. Both of these metals are proven and known to be the kindest to sensitive skin.
Stainless steel is highly durable, scratch-resistant, tarnish-resistant and unlikely to cause allergic reactions. It is also a more eco-friendly metal to produce and is 100% recyclable. Most of our earrings are made with stainless steel whilst our ear cuffs are made with 925 sterling silver. Like stainless steel, sterling silver is also kind to sensitive skin and unlikely to cause reactions. We have deliberately chosen to use sterling silver for our ear cuffs as it is a softer metal. This will allow you to adjust the cuffs to better fit your ears.
Can I wear my SANS TROU pieces in the shower or at the beach?
We have undergone rigorous testing processes to ensure that our jewellery is tarnish-resistant and can withstand water. However, to prolong the life and shine of your gold jewellery, we strongly recommend that it is kept away from any source of moisture where possible. More importantly, this will reduce the risk of losing one of your clip-ons in water!
We recommend removing our sterling silver pieces before showing or swimming and to avoid them coming into contact with sweat, perfume or other harsh chemicals. Why? Sterling silver does not have the same tarnish-resistant properties as stainless steel.

Can I get a refund if I change my mind?
Unfortunately due to hygiene reasons, we aren't able to offer refunds for change-of-mind on all ear jewellery.
However, this ensures that any item you purchase is brand new, not a re-sale of a previously returned item and has never been worn or tried-on.
We ask that you consider carefully before you purchase and feel free to ask us any questions you may have!
